LEARN, DEVELOP & PLAY JUNIOR RUGBY UNION.

Who are Tri Colours?

Tamworth Tri Colours boys and girls play Rugby Union from U8 to U12 in the Sunday ARTC Gala Carnivals hosted throughout the Central North and New England zones. Played during school terms, these carnivals are held on and off on Sundays during the season. All participating clubs host one carnival each. The age groupings are in 2-year age gaps - U8, U10 and U12.

U6 are lead through rugby development sessions most often by NSWRU development staff. Held at the carnival days this is a great opportunity for younger siblings of our players to join in on the fun, or as a great intro if you are looking to get your child into rugby.

These Sunday carnivals are a bustle of activity with BBQs and the NSWRU development staff in attendance. It is a great family day out!

  • The games follow the ARU Modified Rules for U8 to U12 boys and girls so as to progressively develop individual skills and teamwork alongside children’s physical maturity and understanding of the game.

U6 are led through skills, development and games most often by NSWRU development staff.

    U8 play 7 aside.

    U10 play 12 a side

    U12 play 15 aside.

  • Tamworth District Junior Rugby Union Club, formerly known as Tamworth Junior Rugby Union Club and now commonly known as Tamworth Tri Colours, has been established for over 15 years.

Junior rugby in Tamworth has been around for a long time, some of you may also remember it as Peel Valley Junior Rugby Union Club.

Tamworth Tri Colours is the only junior rugby union club in Tamworth NSW, home of the Pirates Rugby Union Football Club (PRUFC) and Tamworth Rugby Union Sporting Club (TRUSC - Mapgies).

The Tri Colours (Gold, Black & White) comes from the history of the Black and Gold Pirates, and the Black and White Magpies.

The Pirates RUFC play in the Central North Zone from Under 16s, through to 1st XV, whilst the Magpies TRUSC play in the New England Zone.
